I make jewellery because I find it relaxing, time passes peacefully as I work. I like things that are made of glass because of it’s translucence and the reflections you can see in glass beads. I also find it very peaceful to make beads and pendants out of Fimo (coloured modelling clay). In addition, I use all sorts of leftover items and turn them into pendants, earrings, and bangles. The nice thing about using all these discarded items is that nothing is wasted, everything is recycled in the loveliest way.
As I string separate items and beads one by one, it feels like I am stringing the days into weeks, weeks into months and months into years. Prayer malas come to mind. A mala is a string of prayer beads commonly used for spiritual practice in the Hindu, Jain, Sikhism, Buddhist and Shinto religions.
